Mariela is a remarkable woman – and our contact person in Peru. Mariela runs a company specialising in knitwear, which her mother founded with modest means in the 1970s, and which is still known for the highest quality. Fair trade certified, of course. Production takes place in Lima, Cuzco and Puno as well as in 40 small local studios throughout Peru. This concept ensures proximity to traditional craftsmanship and creates jobs in remote regions, which prevents seamstresses and their families from having to move to crowded cities. Every day, Mariela and her company demonstrate how economic success and social responsibility can not only be reconciled, but can even be fuelled by each other. In addition, we find her Pisco Sour to be the best in the country!
